About The Position

The Staff Software Engineer is a technical leader who architects, develops, and evolves systems powering Bluebeam’s flagship application, Revu. The role combines Windows desktop development—particularly C#, .NET, and WPF—with cloud-native backend systems on AWS, with an immediate focus on backend services and platform foundations using Golang and C#. The engineer works across product, design, quality, architecture, security, DevOps, and engineering teams to translate ambiguous customer and business needs into secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions. The role raises the technical bar through architectural judgment, delivery leadership, operational ownership, and developing other engineers. The position leads complex end-to-end product capabilities spanning the Revu Windows desktop application and AWS-hosted backend services. It provides technical leadership for cross-team initiatives, contributes production-quality code across the stack, improves engineering practices and delivery systems, and establishes operational excellence. It also mentors engineers and partners with cross-functional and customer-facing stakeholders to deliver customer-centered solutions aligned with the Revu product vision.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, including substantial experience delivering and operating production software systems.
  • Strong, recent development experience in Golang and C#, with .NET experience, and the ability to work across multiple languages, code bases, and technology domains.
  • Solid understanding of microservice architecture, API design, containerization, container orchestration, and tradeoffs in designing reliable distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of relational SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL or equivalent, and NoSQL data stores such as Amazon DynamoDB or MongoDB; ability to select suitable data models and persistence strategies.
  • Experience with automated CI/CD and modern software delivery practices, including testing at multiple levels, release automation, monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or similar tooling.
  • Ability to define technical designs, test strategies, service-level expectations, and operational readiness criteria for complex systems.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on large, cross-functional, or multi-year initiatives, including turning broad goals into sequenced technical plans and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers, raise engineering quality, build alignment without formal authority, and help teams make effective decisions under ambiguity.
  • Strong customer empathy and product judgment, with a focus on reliable, intuitive experiences for design and construction professionals.
  • Collaborative, results-oriented, organized mindset; intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn, challenge assumptions constructively, and expand technical breadth.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with complex product technologies such as PDF processing, image processing, 3D rendering, AI-enabled capabilities, or other performance-sensitive domains.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, design, implementation, and evolution of complex product capabilities spanning the Revu Windows desktop application and AWS-hosted backend services.
  • Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing customer value, reliability, security, performance, maintainability, and delivery timelines.
  • Own and advance backend and platform work, focusing on scalable, highly available services and APIs using Golang and C#/.NET.
  • Design cloud-native AWS solutions using appropriate data stores, messaging, observability, security controls, and operational practices.
  • Provide technical leadership for cross-team and multi-quarter initiatives by defining target architecture, identifying risks and dependencies, breaking ambiguous work into milestones, aligning stakeholders, and driving execution.
  • Write production-quality code across Windows desktop components in C#/.NET and WPF and backend services; establish interfaces and integration patterns between client and service layers.
  • Improve engineering practices through design and code reviews, technical documentation, test strategy, CI/CD practices, Infrastructure as Code, and engineering and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Design for observability, resilience, recoverability, and secure operation; investigate and resolve production issues, participate in on-call support as needed, lead root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
  • Mentor engineers through coaching, pairing, technical feedback, knowledge sharing, and stewardship of engineering standards.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for complex domains and code bases.
  • Partner with Product Management, Design, QA, Architecture, InfoSec, DevOps, and customer-facing stakeholders to refine requirements into customer-centered solutions advancing the Revu product vision.
