About The Position

The Staff Software Engineer explores software products and solutions to address business and technical needs, evaluates gaps between customer and business expectations and existing solutions, classifies requirements, and anticipates and communicates solution risks. The role contributes to user stories and software design, selects appropriate frameworks and environments, and creates code and automation that meet business and non-functional requirements, including availability and scalability. The engineer also monitors application performance, analyzes logs and defects, conducts maintenance, and supports testing from strategy and test-case definition through execution and defect detection. The position designs and develops robust, scalable REST APIs and services using Java, Reactive Java, Cassandra, Cosmos, SOA, microservices, and event-driven architecture. It develops Spark jobs and Kafka-based asynchronous pipelines, contributes to projects ranging from small to large, writes unit and regression tests, supports production go-live, maintains and improves existing codebases, documents solutions, and collaborates with other programmers through code reviews and feature implementation. The position is located at 1375 Crossman Avenue, Sunnyvale, California.
