About The Position

Resideo is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its platform cloud development team, designing, developing, and integrating highly complex IoT software for connected comfort, water, video, and security solutions. The role develops cloud-native services used by millions of customers worldwide, enabling secure and reliable control of smart living products across devices. You will implement features that improve service reliability, scalability, and performance, using APIs and modern messaging patterns, and take hands-on ownership of production systems. The position combines backend cloud engineering, technical leadership, architecture contributions, cross-functional collaboration, engineering innovation, and operational support. It includes designing highly available, low-latency services; guiding implementation choices; applying secure engineering practices; supporting high-quality releases; and partnering with QA, SRE, and support teams to maintain production stability. The work environment is hybrid, requiring three days in the office each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, including designing, building, and maintaining production-grade cloud services on Azure or an equivalent platform.
  • Strong expertise in C#/.NET and .NET Core, object-oriented design principles, and distributed systems.
  • Conceptual understanding of IoT Hub technologies.
  • Experience implementing REST APIs, microservices, messaging solutions, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with cloud relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with identity and access management and authorization frameworks.
  • Ability to work in the office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in the required hybrid work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in rigorous engineering environments, competitive technical programs, or equivalent applied industry experience demonstrating analytical ability and complex problem-solving.
  • Ability and willingness to provide L3 support in a production environment.
  • Experience with active-active multi-region architecture and Azure services for zero-downtime failover, global traffic distribution, and resilience.
  • Knowledge of Azure App Services, Functions, API Management, EventHub, API Gateway, Load Balancer, Traffic Manager, and IoT solution development.
  • Experience designing and implementing authorization and permission management frameworks.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, Crucible, SonarQube, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Scaled Agile/SCRUM practices and collaborative software delivery.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a record of owning design and implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate across globally distributed teams, make decisions in complex environments, and rapidly learn and apply new concepts, technologies, and information.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop highly available, low-latency backend cloud services for connected products and customer-facing applications.
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs, backend services, and cloud-native components.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, evaluate options, define patterns, and ensure designs meet standards for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Integrate new technology stacks into solutions in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Identify opportunities for technical improvement and apply software engineering principles to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.
  • Collaborate with product owners, technical teams, and customer operations to deliver user experiences.
  • Share best practices and collaborate with engineers, including using advanced AI tools to deliver solutions.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, provide progress updates, ask questions, and learn from peers, partners, and customers.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to diagnose and resolve customer issues.
  • Evaluate and integrate technologies into existing and future solutions, considering scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Assess architectural tradeoffs and determine effective implementation strategies.
  • Use AI and automation technologies to improve development lifecycle efficiency, system reliability, and engineering decisions.
  • Own software component design and apply engineering practices including unit testing, static code analysis, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Follow secure development lifecycle practices and integrate security requirements early in design and development.
  • Support high-quality releases, monitor service health, and ensure reliable cloud service performance in production.
  • Partner with QA, SRE, and support teams to maintain system stability, reliability, and operational performance.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to contribute creative ideas at a company shaping the future of the Smart Home.
  • Opportunity to partner on products that affect people's comfort, safety, and security.
  • Opportunity to join a growing team that regularly invests in research and development.
