Through the Fanatics platform, sports fans can buy licensed fan gear, jerseys, lifestyle and streetwear products, headwear, and hardgoods; collect physical and digital trading cards, sports memorabilia, and other digital assets; and bet as the company builds its Sportsbook and iGaming platform. Fanatics has an established database of over 100 million global sports fans; a global partner network with approximately 900 sports properties, including major national and international professional sports leagues, players associations, teams, colleges, college conferences and retail partners, 2,500 athletes and celebrities, and 200 exclusive athletes; and over 2,000 retail locations, including its Lids retail stores. Develop and implement a data-driven engineering strategy, approach, and roadmap for Engineering needs (20%): Define and evolve engineering strategy aligned with business objectives, scalability goals, and long-term platform direction; Manage execution using Agile frameworks, including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, estimation, and delivery tracking; Analyze engineering velocity, capacity, and operational metrics, and make data backed recommendations to improve delivery efficiency and resource utilization; Contribute to technical planning and design discussions, evaluating short term versus long term tradeoffs in architecture and implementation; Identify risks, remove delivery bottlenecks, and provide direction when projects encounter technical or execution challenges. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, inside and outside of Engineering, and collaborate to gather and present testing metrics and activities (30%): Partner closely with product, quality engineering, operations, infrastructure, and compliance teams to clarify requirements and align on technical constraints; Attend recurring meetings with operations, product, and infrastructure teams to expand and refine engineering playbooks and delivery practices; Gather, analyze, and present testing, quality, and operational metrics to inform readiness, risk, and release decisions; Advise technology leaders and product stakeholders on technical decisions that improve platform reliability, performance, and business value; Build and maintain working relationships with vendors and third party partners by participating in regular coordination meetings and alignment sessions as needed. Help development teams adhere to the principles, guidelines, and best practices of the engineering strategy (10%): Establish and enforce best practices with emphasis on security, reliability, observability, and maintainability; Lead code and design reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure consistent engineering standards; Create and maintain internal processes for change management and version control; Mentor and coach engineers, reduce onboarding burden for new team members, and promote a culture of technical excellence and accountability; Proactively identify opportunities to simplify codebases and address architectural deficiencies. Develop a strong understanding of Fanatics Betting and Gaming (15%): Maintain a working understanding of core products, system behavior, and end user experience flows; Develop familiarity with product feature sets, platform capabilities, and long term roadmap objectives; Recommend technology capabilities and architectural improvements to support future enhancements, including feature expansion and cross product enablement; Build domain knowledge relevant to the industry, including applicable terminology, standards, and operational considerations. Remain current on technology and trends in engineering (10%): Stay informed on emerging software development practices, architectural patterns, and tooling; Evaluate new technologies and frameworks to determine applicability to current and future engineering initiatives; Contribute to continuous improvement of testability, operational excellence metrics, documentation, and development workflows. Occasionally travel to events and Bet Fanatics offices for various offsite and team meetings (15%): Participate in onsite meetings, planning sessions, and team building activities as required; Support production releases and initial launches by participating in validation, troubleshooting, and post release activities; Coordinate with internal teams and external partners during critical delivery or launch phases. Up to 15% domestic travel required for meetings. Partial telecommuting permitted; on-site at 61 9th Avenue, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10011 when not telecommuting. Salary: $191,250 - $211,250 per year.
