About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship. The successful candidate will collaborate across teams to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions, promote engineering best practices, and continuously improve processes. This position requires strong technical judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable software aligned with strategic objectives. The International Personalization platform team builds a scalable multi-tenant framework delivering tailored experiences across Walmart International sites, including Mexico and Canada. The team integrates advanced machine learning to enhance customer engagement and business outcomes. Focused on continuous improvement, technical excellence, and collaboration, the team delivers high-quality software aligned with strategic goals. It ensures reliable platform performance while fostering innovation and shared expertise. Members apply cloud-native architecture principles and data-driven decision making to develop robust solutions, supporting a culture of technical growth and effective cross-team communication.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
  • Experience driving full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
  • Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation using languages such as Python and Java.
  • Hands On Expertise with Java, Python, PySpark, Airflow, Hive, Streaming Processing, Kafka.
  • Demonstrated skills in conducting system design reviews and applying data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and technical mentorship.
  • Experience Deploying Machine Learning Models into production.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
