About The Position

AeroVect is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure (On-Prem) to own the physical infrastructure powering autonomous vehicle operations at its garage facilities. The role includes managing existing garage computing systems and networking equipment, overseeing software delivery to autonomous tractors, and building on-premises data-processing systems for operational data such as dashcam images and telemetry. This is a hands-on position at the intersection of systems software, embedded infrastructure, and physical networking. The work takes place in a fast-paced, operationally dynamic environment, with priorities shifting as vehicles are deployed across live airport sectors. The systems support operators and vehicles working in the field each day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience managing on-premises infrastructure, bare-metal systems, and physical networking environments.
  • Proficiency in C++ for building data-processing applications, including the standard library, basic multithreading, and socket and WebSocket implementation.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and Bash for automation, tooling, and operational scripting.
  • Hands-on experience physically configuring servers or computers and network hardware.
  • Experience managing software deployment pipelines to physical devices or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with data-ingestion pipelines and managing data flows from edge devices to centralized infrastructure.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting operational priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or operationally deployed technology environments.
  • Background in embedded systems or edge computing with C++ data-processing applications.
  • Experience supporting operator-facing tools or lightweight UI components for operational systems.
  • Familiarity with WebSocket and socket-based communication for real-time data applications.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting for on-premises systems and network infrastructure.
  • ROS/ROS2 familiarity or experience with robotic software deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, and maintain uploaders and networking equipment at garage facilities.
  • Manage software release delivery to autonomous tractors and on-premises devices across active deployment sites.
  • Build and maintain on-premises data-processing applications in C++ and Python for real-time operational data.
  • Ensure reliable ingestion of vehicle data, including dashcam images and telemetry, and manage upload flows to cloud infrastructure.
  • Maintain and improve an existing operator-facing UI layer for day-to-day garage operations.
  • Monitor server health, network performance, and data-pipeline reliability across on-premises systems.
  • Develop automation tools in Python and Bash for on-premises operations, monitoring, and deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with the cloud infrastructure team to ensure clean data handoff between on-premises and cloud systems.
  • Adapt to shifting operational priorities across active deployment environments.
