About The Position

Affirm is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, for its Decisions Orchestration team, which owns key parts of the checkout flow, including shopper-facing screens and the downstream orchestration and state management behind them. • Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through definition of a technical and execution plan.
  • Ability to write high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and moving between low-level language idioms and large-system architecture to understand how systems work.
  • A demonstrated trajectory of growth and impact, including the ability to gather and iterate on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
  • Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes, acting as a force multiplier for the team.
  • Own team operations and availability by ensuring appropriate monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place for operational and on-call support.
  • Set code review and design standards, foster quality and ownership, and advocate for standards beyond the team through writing and tech talks.
  • Develop team talent by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example.
  • Lead the design of the next generation of Affirm’s checkout experience and raise frontend engineering standards across core checkout flows.
