About The Position

Vantor is seeking a Staff Software Developer to lead and contribute to software development efforts for mission-critical systems, focusing on scalable, high-performance APIs and microservices. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot within a distributed architecture. The developer will work with open-source tools for big data, geospatial imagery, and remote sensing applications, collaborating within an Agile team using modern development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles. Key responsibilities include driving containerization and orchestration with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Rancher, supporting infrastructure automation with Jenkins, Helm, and scripting, and integrating third-party tools like Keycloak, OpenSearch, Fluent Bit, and Cesium. The position also involves contributing to system architecture, performance tuning, backend optimization, working with data platforms like PostgreSQL and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and supporting testing automation. The Staff Software Developer will engage with stakeholders for demos and troubleshooting and operate independently to solve complex technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with a current/active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to obtain a CI polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong backend focus
  • Experience developing software using Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
  • Strong experience building and maintaining REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenShift)
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Gradle, and Helm
  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments and scripting (Bash/Shell)
  • Experience integrating or working with third-party tools such as Keycloak, Kibana, Fluent Bit, or similar
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite in Herndon, VA

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Full stack experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js
  • Experience with databases and data management (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ORM frameworks)
  • Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch for large-scale data indexing and search
  • Background in geospatial or remote sensing applications
  • Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes (RKE)
