Vantor is currently seeking a Staff Software Developer to join our growing team. This role involves leading and contributing to software development efforts supporting mission-critical systems, with emphasis on scalable, high-performance APIs and microservices. The developer will design, develop, and maintain RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot within a distributed architecture, work with open-source tools and technologies supporting big data, geospatial imagery, and remote sensing applications, and collaborate within a cross-functional Agile team leveraging modern development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles. The position also drives containerization and orchestration efforts, supports infrastructure and deployment automation, integrates and maintains third-party tools, contributes to system architecture decisions, and supports testing automation.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with a current/active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to obtain a CI polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong backend focus
  • Experience developing software using Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
  • Strong experience building and maintaining REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenShift)
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Gradle, and Helm
  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments and scripting (Bash/Shell)
  • Experience integrating or working with third-party tools such as Keycloak, Kibana, Fluent Bit, or similar
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite in Herndon, VA

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Full stack experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js
  • Experience with databases and data management (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ORM frameworks)
  • Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch for large-scale data indexing and search
  • Background in geospatial or remote sensing applications
  • Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes (RKE)
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages such as C++, C, Scala, or JavaScript
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Cypress
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

  • Support testing automation, including integration and system-level validation
  • Engage with stakeholders as needed to support demos, troubleshooting, and mission objectives
  • Operate independently to solve complex technical challenges and document solutions clearly
