The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) works to build on strengths of families and communities to keep children and vulnerable adults safe, so they thrive. We do this through investigations, services, and referrals. As a Staff Services Officer I, you’re the driving force behind a welcoming every new DFPS team member. You’ll support a dedicated group of hiring specialists and their manager, but your influence goes well beyond the office—you're essential to our onboarding experience, ensuring new employees feel supported and valued from day one. In this role, you help set the tone for our mission to protect vulnerable adults, making every new employee orientation meaningful and every transition smooth. You’ll take on a variety of meaningful staff services responsibilities that keep our talent acquisition operations running smoothly. From keeping personnel records organized and up-to-date to making new employee orientation a positive experience, you’ll be right in the middle of what matters most. You’ll coordinate key HR activities, track hiring progress, prepare reports, and support both your team and new hires every step of the way. This role offers the chance to grow your administrative skills, contribute to a mission-driven team, and play an essential part in welcoming new colleagues—all while working with guidance and the opportunity to show initiative.
