About The Position

A Staff Scientist position in the Hsieh Lab located in the Human Biology Division is available immediately. The core focus of the Hsieh Lab is to interrogate the mechanisms by which post-transcriptional gene regulation governs cancer cell behavior at a molecular, cellular, and organismal level. The laboratory places a high emphasis on novel discoveries and academic development. New projects focused on tumor heterogeneity, somatic mosaicism, and mRNA-specific translation are currently underway and funded by multiple new NIH grants.

Requirements

A PhD and/or MD degree in a biomedical science discipline such as biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, computer science, computational biology, biostatistics, biomedical engineering, computer/electrical engineering, or other related fields
Minimum of 5 years Postdoctoral experience
Experience with grant writing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Nice To Haves

A strong background in murine work, high throughput methods, RNA biology, and/or computational biology are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Utilize murine and human genetics, whole transcriptome ribosome profiling, MSR-seq, functional genomics, RNA labeling/sequencing techniques, TMT mass spectrometry, various cellular and molecular assays, and a one-of-a-kind biorepository of primary and metastatic human prostate and bladder cancer samples to understand how the translation apparatus controls normal physiology and promotes cancer phenotypes including tumor heterogeneity and metastasis.
