Staff Scientist

University of Chicago•Lemont, IL
•$70,000 - $80,000

About The Position

The Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (PME) at the University of Chicago seeks a Staff Scientist to lead research on superconducting quantum devices and quantum networks in the Han Lab. The lab conducts experimental studies of quantum devices, focusing on the fundamental science behind micro- and nanoscale systems and on achieving greater control in the fabrication, integration, and manipulation of quantum phenomena in photons and solid-state materials. The Staff Scientist will support research relevant to nanofabrication and the fundamental science of quantum devices and systems. Typical projects include designing and fabricating superconducting qubits and quantum circuits, developing single-electron qubits, and conducting low-temperature and quantum network experiments. The scientist will partner closely with faculty to plan, oversee, and execute project activities, identify opportunities for innovation, develop or incorporate advances in research concepts, and disseminate research results. The role also includes student supervision. The position is an individual-contributor role in the Research job family, scheduled for 40 hours per week. It is salary-based, exempt, and benefits-eligible. The posted pay range is $70,000–$80,000.
