About The Position

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to lead multiple projects focused on autoantibody pathobiology and its translation into tumor diagnostic and therapeutic agents. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, develop creative experimental approaches, and thrive in both independent and collaborative research. The lab is committed to a supportive and inclusive environment. The Staff Scientist will design and execute experiments to identify mechanisms behind the breakdown of immune tolerance to self-antigens in cancer, and to produce, screen, and test the efficacy and toxicity of novel antibody-based therapeutics. The position also assists the Principal Investigator with projects, manuscript preparation, supervision, training, and mentoring of lab members.

Requirements

Ph.D. and fellowship experience in a relevant field.
Knowledge and experience in cancer biology, biochemistry, or immunology.
Knowledge and experience in preclinical and/or clinical translation.
Track record of productive research, including publications, and impactful leadership.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to develop creative approaches to experimental design.

Responsibilities

Design and execute experiments identifying mechanisms behind breaking immune tolerance to self-antigens in cancer.
Design and execute experiments involving the production, screening, and efficacy and toxicity testing of novel antibody-based therapeutics.
Assist the Principal Investigator with projects and manuscript preparation.
Supervise, train, and mentor lab members.
