About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Staff Scientist, LC-MS/MS to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves developing and validating LC-MS/MS methods for various molecules in biological matrices, performing complex troubleshooting, and applying scientific theories and regulatory requirements in clinical studies. The scientist will also provide consultation, manage scientific vendor relationships, and stay current with scientific literature. Presentations to clients and professional groups, as well as attending conferences, are also part of the role. A key focus is on method development and validation, including sample preparation and LC-MS/MS parameters, while ensuring compliance with CAP, CLIA, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's with 5 years or more of relevant experience
Strong hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS instrumentation (e.g. Sciex 6500+, Waters Acquity UPLC)
Proven track record in LC-MS/MS method development and validation
Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g. Sciex Analyst, Sciex MultiQuant, Indigo Ascent)
Highly skilled in conducting research, data interpretation, and writing reports.
Proven track record of method development.
Experience performing scientific presentations and preparing scientific publications.
Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation, system software Microsoft applications and laboratory statistics.
Effective communication skills with technical staff, business development staff, peers and clients.
Attention to detail and interpretation of scientific data.
Demonstrated problem prevention, detection and resolution

Nice To Haves

Experience with small molecules, peptides, or biomolecules
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific area

Responsibilities

Develop and validate liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods for small molecules (e.g. steroids, vitamins) and large molecules (e.g. proteins, antibody-drug conjugates (ADC)) in biological matrices.
Performs complex troubleshooting and assists in leading initiatives to solve challenging scientific problems with assays or instrumentation.
Applies and interprets scientific theories, concepts, techniques and regulatory requirements in clinical studies and accepts leadership role in developing scientific approaches.
Provides consultation to scientific and operational staff on technical issues.
Responds to unscheduled deadlines, client needs, crises, etc. without neglecting other duties.
Assists with regular monitoring and evaluation of clinical assays to ensure effective scientific performance.
May provide technical training for operational staff.
Provides technical/scientific consultation to departments outside the lab (i.e., Project Management) as requested.
Contributes to long-term planning and technical policies of the department.
Assists in managing scientific vendor relationships to troubleshoot issues and improve capabilities.
Participates in client visits.
Regularly reads literature related to scientific area of expertise to remain current in knowledge.
Presentations to clients and professional groups.
Attend meetings, conferences, symposia, and seminars to promote CLS’s capabilities within dedicated scientific area.
Method Development & Validation – design and optimize sample preparation procedures (e.g protein precipitation, solid phase, liquid-liquid, SLE, derivatisation, digestion) and LC-MS/MS parameters for semi-quantitative and quantitative analysis
Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and applicable regulatory requirements
