About The Position

Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. For years, our awe-inspiring viral videos on YouTube have shown the world what remarkably capable robots can do. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in government solutions. As a Sales Engineer supporting the Sales organization for Spot, our quadruped robot, you will help highlight the “art of the possible,” guide customers on the journey of making mobile robots part of their operations, and execute on your teams process to ensure our customers find value from Spot. You will accomplish this by aligning our robot’s capabilities with any relevant sensors, communications, software, and services. You and your team will partner with the Sales team by being the technical subject matter experts in Spot, assisting with cross-functional customer team alignment, and be able to collect the relevant information to uncover the customers challenges and provide them with a solution. To thrive in this role, you must provide the necessary depth and breadth of knowledge to gain trust from our customers and prospects, and to guide them towards a valuable use of our robotic technology. You will also enable your team and our salespeople to showcase all the best capabilities that Boston Dynamics has to offer. You will need to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, both internally and externally, explore use cases with operators of Spot and guide them on the path that brings the fastest value from our solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a customer facing technical role
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Typescript, Kotlin, or similar languages, with a focus on developing advanced solutions and integrations using robotics APIs/SDKs
  • Familiarity with government programs of record
  • Strong public speaking skills and experience with presenting to audiences of mixed technical backgrounds
  • Ability to accommodate 50% travel both domestic and international
  • Experience with some variety of networking technology
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ambulatory movement with the ability to lift 70lbs
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance
  • Valid Passport

Responsibilities

  • Drive Government Sales through client support and engagements.
  • Work hand and hand with the Government team as Spot SME providing technical assistance.
  • Understand the government robotics market signals, where the market is headed, what the product needs to achieve more sales.
  • Conduct engaging but technically-focused in-person demonstrations of our robots’ capabilities. Along with tradeshow, experiments, scenario based exercises.
  • Create proof-of-concept solutions during the pre-sales process. Proof of concept solutions involving both mechanical design and software development.
  • Translate complex, technical details into clear, value-oriented information that is meaningful for non-technical clients
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through communication and RMA process, advocate for customer success with big picture strategies in mind.
  • Become the customer’s trusted advisor, providing a realistic perspective on what is possible with Spot without sacrificing the momentum of excitement that our robots bring.
  • Fulfill RFI/RFP from customers
  • Leverage ecosystem knowledge to recommend any appropriate actions, pre-requisites, or 3rd-party additions to the sum total of a solution that provides value.
  • Explore solutions on the market in which can be integrated to drive sales.
  • Interface with product management, engineering, and operations teams to provide constructive customer feedback, addressing common blockers to widespread adoption.
  • First line of defense with critical customers to troubleshoot robot issues.
  • Support our test operations team to update test plans for practical real world situations.
  • Support our technical partners in payload development.
