About The Position

United Health Services is seeking a Staff Registered Nurse – Ambulatory Surgery to join their team at UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. The Ambulatory Surgery team collaborates closely to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care across a wide range of surgical procedures. This fast-paced unit supports patients throughout their surgical journey, providing both pre-operative and post-operative care. The majority of procedures are completed on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to recover and return home the same day. At UHS, they believe that every connection matters—from the way they support their patients in critical moments to how they empower their teams to grow and succeed. This role involves contributing to strategic planning, driving departmental goals, and leading with empathy in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Current NYS RN License

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
  • Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy.
  • Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
  • Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.
  • Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
  • Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
  • Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
