About The Position

This position in the Medical Clinic is responsible for providing direct care to mentally ill offenders and assisting in the maintenance of a safe and secure therapeutic environment within the Medical Clinic. The role involves compiling daily sick call sheets, working with assigned physicians, and ensuring the timely completion of tasks for newly admitted patients and those due for Annual Physical Exams. Responsibilities include assisting with assessments, medication orders, physicals, EKGs, vaccines, checking the crash cart, recording oxygen levels, monitoring the glucometer, performing Audiology screening, and managing the inventory and maintenance of medical supplies. The position also offers the opportunity to cross-train and demonstrate competence in Optometry, Podiatry, and Dental clinics. Phlebotomy is a mandatory skill. Other assigned duties may include clerical functions utilizing computer skills such as Word and Excel.

Requirements

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a current multi-state license.
  • Possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland (if assigned duties require operation of a motor vehicle).
  • Phlebotomy is a must.
  • Experience using computer applications and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) (Desired/Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Compile daily sick call sheets sent from the wards.
  • Work with assigned physicians as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks for newly admitted patients and those due for Annual Physical Exams.
  • Assist with assessments, medication orders, physicals, EKGs, vaccines.
  • Check crash cart.
