The Staff Registered Nurse: Ambulatory Care practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, demonstrating Lahey Clinic’s core values. This role emphasizes the nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care, and accountability in delivering individualized high-quality patient care. The Staff Nurse: Ambulatory collaborates with physicians, other healthcare providers, and ambulatory support staff to plan and coordinate patient care. The nurse is responsible for providing care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate considerations, and bears full responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided, including health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal functioning. The Staff Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the plan of care, has authority to make decisions, and is accountable for decisions specific to assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role involves facilitating care coordination across the continuum and demonstrating safe practice in clinical judgment, professional relationships, clinical leadership, and clinical scholarship. Delegation and supervision are also key responsibilities, with the delegating registered nurse bearing ultimate responsibility for appropriate patient care assignments, teaching, directing, supervising, and the outcome of delegation. The Staff Registered Nurse maintains current knowledge and skills, complies with regulations, and must be currently licensed in Massachusetts.
