About The Position

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, dayshift position for an experienced RN in a Gastroenterology Office. The role involves care coordination for patients, working alongside physicians, fellows, and NPs. Responsibilities include communicating with patients, families, and ancillary services via Epic telephone encounters/My Chart and phone. Key activities include addressing medical issues, communicating test results, managing medication refills and prior authorizations, providing patient/family education, and coordinating with services like dieticians, home care, insurance companies, and pharmacies. The RN will assist patients in moving through their episode of care efficiently and safely, delegating and overseeing patient care as appropriate. The position requires practicing professional nursing, promoting patient advocacy, and adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, while maintaining a current Ohio Nursing License.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • BSN or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire, required.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
  • Assesses individualized patient needs.
  • Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel.
  • Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.
  • Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.
  • Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Addresses medical issues/concerns.
  • Communicates test results.
  • Manages medication refills/prior authorizations.
  • Provides patient/family education.
  • Communicates with ancillary services such as dieticians, home care companies, insurance companies, pharmacies, as well as many others.
