About The Position

The Staff Research Scientist will work in the productive environment of a federal and privately funded laboratory focused on the development of social behavior circuits in the rodent brain. The incumbent will have a solid knowledge in neuroethology, large dataset data pipelines, stress neurobiology, and developmental neuroscience. The incumbent will conduct research mostly independently, participate in the design of experiments, analyze data, and may contribute to manuscripts.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field required.
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, CRISPR, Western blotting, and work with animal models.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid knowledge in neuroethology, large dataset data pipelines, stress neurobiology, and developmental neuroscience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments, analyze data, formulate conclusions, and create appropriate statistical visualizations (such as graphs and charts) for the purpose of reporting research/laboratory results.
  • Independently process and deliver presentations of scientific data.
  • Independently drive research projects, contribute original ideas, and work effectively within an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Educate, train, and supervise new students and other research staff that assist on the project.
  • Meet regularly with Principal Investigator (PI) and colleagues to review lab data, troubleshoot problems, prioritize tasks, and discuss newly published scientific literature relevant to the field.
