About The Position

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is seeking a Staff Reliability Engineer to enhance the reliability program for assigned assets, focusing on preventive and predictive maintenance for the West Texas and SE New Mexico operating regions. This role involves reviewing equipment repair scopes, documenting downtime and lost production, analyzing mean time between repairs, and conducting root cause failure analyses to improve existing programs. The engineer will also automate reliability reports, monitor equipment efficiencies, implement case studies for performance improvement, and assist operations with machinery-related issues. Key responsibilities include monitoring the condition of critical equipment like pumps, compressors, gas engines/turbines, and motors to develop overhaul plans, troubleshooting equipment using advanced analytics tools, witnessing performance tests at OEM facilities, and supporting engineering groups in equipment selection and installation. The role requires a strong understanding of rotating equipment in plant and pipeline environments, with specific experience in various types of machinery and their associated controls and monitoring systems. The successful candidate will also lead reliability meetings, provide direction for reliability initiatives, and possess strong communication and technical writing skills. Travel, including overnight and weekend stays, is required.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years’ mechanical/process engineering experience in gas and liquid pipeline, gas cryogenic plant, petrochemical or refinery is required.
  • Broad understanding of rotating equipment as it relates to a plant and gas pipeline environment.
  • Specific experience in pumps, gear boxes, centrifugal and reciprocating engines and compressors, gas engines/turbines, compressor surge controls, PLC programs, gas turbines controls, vibration protection, emissions monitoring for reciprocating engines and gas turbines.
  • Experience in process machinery equipment vibration analysis is required.
  • Advanced understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance concepts as it applies to reciprocating engines and compressors, gas turbines and other plant equipment.
  • Proficient on personal computers, in particular, word processing and spreadsheets, database programs, data acquisition systems, Data PARC/SEEQ.
  • Understand gas engine/turbine controls, centrifugal compressor surge controls.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge in performance monitoring, troubleshooting and repair of reciprocating engines and compressors.
  • Must be self-motivated and work as a team member.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good technical writing ability and able to adapt and learn new methods in performing the job function.
  • Ability and willingness to travel daily with some overnight/weekend stays is required.

Responsibilities

  • Improve reliability program for assigned assets, including preventive and predictive programs for West Texas and SE New Mexico.
  • Review equipment repair scopes, document downtime, lost production, and mean time between repairs.
  • Develop root cause failure analysis to review and revamp existing preventive and predictive programs.
  • Automate/develop reliability reports to benchmark existing equipment performance.
  • Monitor and calculate gas engine/turbine and compressor efficiencies.
  • Implement case studies to improve performance on gas engines/turbines, compressors, and pumps.
  • Identify and assist area operations with issues related to machinery performance during production applications and systems.
  • Monitor the condition of key pumps, compressors, gas engines/turbines, and motors to develop and maintain major overhaul plans.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues using SKF vibration data analytics, Seeq, Data PARC, and combustion gas analysis.
  • Witness critical equipment performance tests at OEM facilities.
  • Support field and capital engineering groups in reviewing equipment specifications, equipment selection, monitoring installation, and successful start-up.
  • Lead reliability meetings for assigned locations and provide oversight and direction of reliability initiatives.
