About The Position

As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design, develop, and deliver mechanical assemblies, including full chassis designs for ultra-high-performance and power electronic products. The role suits candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment and take pride in delivering high-quality products within small, highly experienced teams. Broadcom's cradle-to-grave product development lifecycle means ownership continues beyond product shipment, including support for customer trials, field issues, and product sustaining.

You will collaborate closely with Hardware, ASIC, Signal, Mechanical, Thermal, Diagnostic, Packaging, and Manufacturing engineers, as well as partner engineering teams on joint development programs. The position covers rack- and tray-level mechanical enclosure design, prototype and qualification support, and preparation of engineering documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in electronics packaging.
• Proficiency in PTC Creo and Windchill for 3D modeling, design, and data management.
• Experience with sheet metal, machining, die-casting, and plastic manufacturing techniques.
• Experience designing high-powered enclosures and devices.
• Experience with liquid cooling requirements and challenges.
• Proven collaboration with production shops and manufacturing teams to streamline processes, enhance quality control, and ensure smooth transitions from design to implementation.
• Understanding of relevant US, European, and Asian regulations, standards, and best practices for safety and environmental compliance.
• Demonstrated lifecycle product ownership of complex products from inception to volume production.
• Experience working with cross-functional support groups, including Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Customer Support, Compliance, Safety, and Sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Design rack-level and tray-level mechanical enclosures from concept through detailed design, including look and feel, technology and component selection, tolerance and DFM analysis, documentation, and prototype builds.
• Ensure designs comply with regulatory requirements and data center best practices.
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to develop PCB designs, address complex thermal and power delivery challenges, and incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies into cost-effective production-level designs.
• Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and product qualification.
• Prepare engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and change orders.
• Support customer trials, field issues, and product sustaining after product shipment.
