We are the people behind the people who keep saving lives. Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Staff R&D Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on identifying and advancing next-generation opportunities in structural heart and heart failure therapies through early-stage concept development, technical feasibility, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate combines deep engineering expertise with strong market awareness and customer-centric thinking. This individual will play a key role in researching unmet clinical needs, evaluating competitive technologies, conducting Voice of Customer (VOC) activities, and translating insights into innovative cardiovascular device concepts.

Requirements

  • Requires Engineering Bachelors Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience or Master's Degree and 6+ years of experience
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant medical device R&D experience, including significant experience in early-stage product development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead early-stage research and development activities for innovative cardiovascular medical devices.
  • Identify and evaluate front-end innovation opportunities through assessment of: Competitive landscape, emerging technologies, clinical trends, physician and patient unmet needs.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing and Clinical teams to conduct VOC activities and define product opportunity spaces.
  • Drive concept generation, feasibility assessments, and early prototyping efforts for cardiovascular device platforms.
  • Support development of innovation strategies aligned with business and clinical priorities.
  • Translate user insights and technical findings into actionable product concepts and development plans.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, clinical, regulatory, quality, and commercial teams throughout the innovation process.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving technologies, intellectual property, and market dynamics within cardiovascular therapies.
  • Contribute technical expertise to portfolio planning, risk assessments, and innovation roadmaps.
