Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field and 6 years of experience in job offered or in an R&D Staff Electrical Engineer-related occupation.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field and 4 years of experience in job offered or in an R&D Staff Electrical Engineer-related occupation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative electrical systems for groundbreaking ophthalmic platforms including for laser vision correction, phaco and laser cataract surgery, ocular surface disease, and emerging surgical systems.
  • Develop and deliver robust and safe electrical systems for medical devices throughout the product development lifecycle, including the concept phase and research, requirements and specifications, design, coding, visualization, simulation, testing, integration and debugging, manufacturing, and post-launch support.
  • Research new technologies and applications, and develop concept proofs and prototypes.
  • Develop system algorithms and communication protocols.
  • Develop mixed signal, power electronics, motor control, and digital circuit designs and layouts of simple to sophisticated printed circuit boards.
  • Controls and interfaces include motors, lasers, ultrasound, fluidics, pneumatics, audio, and other transducers.
  • Perform high-level circuit simulations and modeling.
  • Collaborate with engineers in mechanical, firmware, software, test, system, quality, regulatory, service and other fields to build innovative solutions and ensure requirements and specifications are met.
  • Act as a technical lead for subsystem projects, and help plan project scope, budgets, and timelines, including writing requirements and test protocols.
  • Document hardware design and participate in the formal release process for medical devices, ensuring quality and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Perform hardware testing for IEC medical safety and EMC standards, including conducting and leading electrical compliance testing.
