About The Position

Northstar Behavioral Health Network specializes in serving individuals battling substance use disorders, specifically Opioid Use Disorder and Stimulant Use Disorder, as well as those needing Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS). Northstar Mental Health Services provides mental health services to those experiencing emotional distress and other mental health concerns. Our integrated team works with clients individually, in couples, with families, and in group settings. We are seeking individuals who can provide psychotherapy to help clients become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive.

Requirements

  • Must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of Minnesota (LP, LICSW, LMFT, and/or LPCC), provisionally licensed (LPC, LAMFT, LCSW), or qualify as a clinical trainee.
  • Must be eligible to be credentialed with insurers.
  • Minimum requirement of a master's degree.
  • Demonstrate competent use of DSM-V and evidence-based approaches.
  • CPR Certification or attain within 30 days of hire (in-house training available).
  • Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems.
  • Must pass drug screen.
  • Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check.
  • Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other computer skills.

  • Training or certification in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, SFBT, DBT, EMDR, Brain Spotting, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the mental health component of co-occurring licensure requirements for residential clients, including completing the initial mental health screen (GAIN-SS) within 3 days of arrival and the diagnostic assessment (DA) within 10 days.
  • Maintain a minimum of 25 direct client contact hours per week (full-time) or average at least 60% of available time as direct client contact (part-time), including 1:1 or group psychotherapy and facilitating co-occurring substance use groups.
  • Complete all substance use documentation within the day of service and mental health documentation within 72 hours of rendering the service.
  • Fulfill expectations on maintaining documentation tracking of clients in the residential site.
  • Attend weekly multidisciplinary clinical staffing meetings.
  • Attend weekly departmental clinical consultation meetings.
  • Maintain a number of grievances/maltreatment reports no greater than 1 per month.
  • Pass quarterly peer review internal documentation review process.
  • Adhere to MN State Statutes, code of ethics, insurance requirements, and Northstar’s policy and procedures.
  • Maintain resident/client records in accordance with Northstar’s policy requirements.
  • Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain professional license.
  • Attend in-house training, all scheduled Northstar/Bridges staff meetings, and consultations.
  • Hold a caseload of clients, providing all components of a psychotherapeutic episode of care from DA through termination.
  • Coordinate care with all providers on the client's care team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
