About The Position

The Department of Psychological Services at UVMMC is seeking a Staff Psychologist to contribute to the development of a pediatric pain management program at Golisano Children’s Hospital and expand services to other specialty clinics. The psychologist will be involved in creating a state-of-the-art pediatric pain program, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include providing psychological services to young people seeking assistance with pain management and supporting other specialties such as Pediatric Neurology, GI, and Sleep Medicine. Future involvement in clinical training and supervision is also anticipated.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program (or equivalent).
  • Doctorate in an APA/CPA accredited Counseling Psychology program may be considered if training is commensurate with role requirements.
  • Completion of internship from an APA accredited program (or equivalent).
  • Completion of at least 1-year postdoctoral training in a clinical setting.
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-licensure experience in Clinical Psychology preferred.
  • Experience providing individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
  • Experience in clinical supervision.
  • Experience in staff consultation.
  • Background in Health Psychology preferred for Medical Psychology and Specialty Clinic roles.
  • Experience in academic health care desired.
  • Demonstrated background in multicultural psychology.
  • Ability to contribute to belonging and inclusion for all people in the department, organization, and network.

  • Recently licensed psychologists with strong relevant clinical and supervisory experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological services to patients in various clinical settings, including inpatient psychiatric, medical-surgical, or rehabilitation units; emergency department; outpatient programs; and general, primary, and/or specialty clinics.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations, focused clinical assessments, and psychological interventions.
  • Offer staff consultation and clinical supervision.
  • Participate in program development and oversight.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary organizational initiatives and program evaluation.
  • Serve in general and specialty care areas to meet organizational and system needs.
  • Contribute to the development of a pediatric pain management program.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide psychological services to young people for pain management and other specialties.
  • Potentially participate in clinical training and supervision over time.
