About The Position

Nemours Children’s Hospital – Delaware is seeking an experienced, evidence-based Hematology/Oncology psychologist to join the Lisa Dean Moseley Foundation Institute for Cancer and Blood Disorders (LDMFI) and the Division of Psychology, within the Department of Pediatrics. This position will provide both inpatient and outpatient services to patients with a wide variety of oncologic and hematologic diagnoses. Services will include evidence-based interventions for patients and families coping with medical illnesses as well as supporting end of life care as needed. The psychologist will serve as preceptors for externs, residents, and fellows in our Psychology Training Programs and pediatric medical residents on their Mental Health rotations. Teaching, training, and mentoring are core values in our department, and these efforts are supported and encouraged. Psychologists are members of the medical staff at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware and are supported with applying for an academic appointment through the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. The psychologist will participate in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and other efforts to ensure the sustainability of their service. In addition, there will be opportunities for research. Our division collaborates with our research colleagues in the Nemours Center for Healthcare Delivery Science.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or school psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program.
  • Internship training from an APA-accredited program in clinical child or pediatric psychology.
  • License-eligible in the state of Delaware by the start of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-doctoral fellowship training in clinical child or pediatric psychology with preference for applicants with a Hematology/Oncology focused fellowship.

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct clinical services within the pediatric Hematology/Oncology population.
  • Working alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, specialty nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and social work within the LDMFI.
  • Providing both inpatient and outpatient services to patients with a wide variety of oncologic and hematologic diagnoses.
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions for patients and families coping with medical illnesses.
  • Supporting end of life care as needed.
  • Collaborating with medical teams and attending weekly multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Involvement in program development to help grow, expand and improve psychosocial services for the hematology/oncology patient population.
  • Serving as preceptors for externs, residents, and fellows in our Psychology Training Programs and pediatric medical residents on their Mental Health rotations.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and other efforts to ensure the sustainability of their service.
