Requirements

  • Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
  • Possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed psychiatric examinations and make accurate diagnoses using accepted clinical standards
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that promote patient improvement and long-term stability
  • Lead interdisciplinary team meetings and ensure that treatment recommendations are properly implemented
  • Provide direction during psychiatric and medical emergencies; and apply appropriate interventions
  • Prepare reports, treatment reviews, and progress notes; and maintain complete clinical chart entries
  • Work with and oversee psychiatric nurse practitioners and maintain compliance with professional standards
