About The Position

Maguire Psychiatric Institute in Oroville, CA, is seeking a Staff Psychiatrist for its Adult Inpatient Care unit. This role is part of a new psychiatric residency program affiliated with California University of Science and Medicine, starting in the 2025-2026 inaugural year. The institute aims to enhance neuropsychiatric care in the region through excellence in patient care, clinical research, and medical education. The Staff Psychiatrist will be responsible for attending and supervising psychiatry residents, providing care for patients with acute psychiatric needs across various hospital units, and collaborating with facility staff. The position offers a 7 on / 7 off rotating schedule with no call duties and utilizes the Tenzing EMR system.

Requirements

Board certified or board eligible Psychiatric Physician (MD or DO)
Experience with adult inpatient populations
Strong collaboration, documentation, resident training interest
Commitment to providing high-quality, patient centered psychiatric care

Responsibilities

Supervising the residents for inpatient care
Interviewing and examining clients to diagnose psychiatric conditions and determine appropriate treatment.
Referring clients to appropriate treatment resources.
Participating in treatment planning and case conferences.
Prescribing psychiatric medications and collaborating closely with facility staff.
Monitoring and documenting treatment progress.
Preparing comprehensive records, reports, and required documentation.
Participating in meetings, programs, and multidisciplinary processes.
Providing psychiatric care for dually diagnosed clients, including participation in treatment reviews and service authorizations.
