As a Staff/Project Accountant at BSC Group, Inc., you will be responsible for several accounting functions including overseeing the financial aspects of a project, such as budgeting, invoicing, reporting, and auditing. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget. A project accountant also monitors and analyzes the project's performance and profitability and provides recommendations for improvement. Additionally, they handle the billing process for the project, including preparing and sending invoices, collecting payments, and following up on overdue accounts. This role will also have a GL/Month end component so familiarity with posting and reviewing journal entries is a plus.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or similar role.
Proficient in accounting software; Deltek Vantagepoint experience is a plus.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
Familiarity with GL account review and journal entry posting.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Strong Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Nice To Haves

Public billing (I.e. Energy, Utility, Government entity) experience is a plus.
Experience in the construction, engineering, transportation or consulting industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows.
Track and report on project expenditures, revenues, and variances.
Manage the project billing process including preparing and sending invoices, collecting payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
Process and verify project invoices and payments.
Ensure compliance with project contracts, policies, and procedures.
Assist with project set-up, changes, close-outs and final settlement.
Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants and vendors on financial matters.
Perform project audits and reconciliations.
Prepare and present project financial reports and statements.
Identify and resolve project accounting and billing issues and discrepancies.
Review and reconcile GL and bank accounts.
Enter Adjusting journal entries when needed.
