The Geotechnical Group focuses on serving projects for local municipal, industrial, residential, and commercial clients, spanning a multitude of geotechnical support roles from exploration to support during construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field of study from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 1-5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields.
  • Possession of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification, with a clear path towards obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) or ASBOG Professional Geologist (PG) licensure.
  • Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites (typically within South Carolina and surrounding states).
  • Perform extensive fieldwork under varying environmental conditions, including adverse weather, uneven terrain, and potentially hazardous environments, while adhering strictly to health and safety protocols.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Able to interview on site where the position is located.

Responsibilities

  • Apply and further develop advanced technical skills in areas such as comprehensive field investigations (e.g., subsurface explorations, sampling protocols), sophisticated data analysis, technical report generation, and interpretation of complex engineering specifications.
  • Continue to build on hands-on experience across the breadth of environmental, civil, geotechnical, geo-structural, and construction materials testing projects.
  • Contribute to robust data collection and analytical processes to inform project optimization and identify efficiency gains.
  • Further develop understanding and application of key performance indicators to enhance project delivery and outcomes.
  • Proactively engage with clients to understand evolving project scopes, effectively communicate technical findings, and manage expectations.
  • Continue to cultivate strong professional relationships, acting as a reliable and knowledgeable representative of the firm.
  • Champion the firm's rigorous quality standards by meticulously reviewing project data, ensuring strict adherence to established protocols, and implementing comprehensive quality checks on all project deliverables.
  • Take an active role in developing and managing detailed project plans and schedules.
  • Effectively allocate resources, monitor progress, and proactively identify and address potential delays to ensure the timely and successful completion of project components.
  • Routinely identify and assess potential project risks, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure stringent adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, permits, and industry standards, maintaining a proactive stance on compliance.
  • Actively lead and contribute within interdisciplinary project teams, fostering effective collaboration with engineers, geologists, scientists, and technicians.
  • Leverage experience to facilitate seamless information exchange and drive cohesive team performance.
  • Apply understanding of contract provisions, assisting in the negotiation and management of relationships with sub-consultants and vendors.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met and project objectives are achieved efficiently.
  • Leverage project experiences and professional network to identify potential new project opportunities.
  • Actively contribute to proposal development and client engagement, supporting the firm's strategic growth initiatives.
