About The Position

Kleinfelder's Design team is looking for a Staff Geotechnical Professional to join their team in Raleigh, North Carolina or Charlotte, North Carolina. This role is for a self-motivated individual with 4-8 years of geotechnical engineering or geology experience. The position involves assisting Project Engineers/Project Managers with field investigations, construction oversight, reviewing and compiling geotechnical laboratory and field-testing results, performing geotechnical analyses, and writing reports. Requirements

4-8 years of geotechnical engineering or geology experience.
Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks.
Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors.

Nice To Haves

Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred.
MS Geotechnical Engineering/Geology is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist the Project Engineers/Project Managers and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance, coordination with drilling contractors, supervision of drilling and geotechnical field investigations, logging of borings and test pits.
Assist with lab testing assignment, compilation of lab and field testing results.
Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under supervision including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, and geologic hazard evaluation.
Assist the Project Engineers/Managers and prepare geotechnical reports.
