About The Position

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is seeking a Staff Product Operations Manager for its CNN division. CNN is undergoing rapid transformation and is looking for innovators to drive growth. This role will support the Platforms organization by translating platform priorities into clear operating rhythms, technical intake practices, release readiness, documentation, enablement, and feedback loops. The position interfaces with systems like CMS and editorial tools, and platforms delivering content across web, app, and linear channels. The role requires partnering with senior leadership, including the SVP of Product, Platforms, and cross-functional teams in Product, Design, Technology, Video Production, and Editorial to ensure disciplined execution and structured operating practices. The ideal candidate will have technical fluency to understand platform tradeoffs, identify risks, and facilitate progress across various platform capabilities. This role does not have direct reports and requires a hands-on approach. Collaboration with operational peers and Technical Program Managers is key to ensuring alignment and adoption of a cohesive operating model. A primary focus is operationalizing platform changes, improving processes for shipping work, supporting experimentation and performance practices, and ensuring stakeholders have the necessary systems, tools, and workflows. The candidate should thrive in ambiguity, be highly organized, understand platform and product development workflows, and collaborate effectively with technical teams, focusing on practical execution.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Operations, Program Management, Platform Operations, Technical Program Management, Product Management, or Platform Engineering.
  • Strong technical ability in programming, architecture, product, or platform operations, with demonstrated ability to read and reason about technical architectures, APIs, and platform dependencies — must have the ability to facilitate technical conversations, triage platform requests, and assess complexity and risk.
  • Experience with CMS platforms such as Headless CMS, Arc, Brightspot, WordPress VIP, or equivalent, and an understanding of content publishing pipelines.
  • Working knowledge of observability, monitoring, and performance tooling such as Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience configuring or managing feature flag systems such as LaunchDarkly, Optimizely, or Statsig, and supporting A/B testing infrastructure.
  • Comfort reading and interpreting data in SQL or BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Mode to support platform performance and experimentation reporting.
  • Strong understanding of platform and product development workflows, including CMS, editorial tooling, content publishing, experimentation, and performance optimization.
  • Experience supporting or working within a Platforms, Product, or Engineering organization in a media, publishing, or content-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable processes in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Experience with experimentation frameworks, feature flagging, and A/B testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Airtable, Figma, and platform monitoring and analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, bring structure to ambiguity, and move work forward without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience partnering across Product, Design, Engineering, and Editorial teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex platform work into clear, actionable updates for diverse audiences.
  • A systems thinker who is always looking to streamline and improve how things get done.
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement ways to streamline technical workflows, reduce friction, and improve team velocity across editorial, product, and engineering partners.
  • Operationalize AI-powered tools and methodologies, ensuring teams have the right support, training, and governance to adopt responsibly.
  • Support planning cycles by turning priorities into clear workstreams, milestones, and follow-up actions.
  • Partner closely with Platforms leadership to keep teams aligned on goals, dependencies, and commitments, ensuring decisions are translated into practical execution plans that are technically feasible.

  • Build and maintain scalable frameworks for feature flagging, A/B testing, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Support site and app performance goals by embedding speed, stability, observability, and scalability considerations into platform operating processes.
  • Monitor experiment and platform performance, ensuring learnings are captured, shared, and actioned.
  • Work closely with other operators and TPMs to align on processes, dependencies, and shared goals.
  • Act as a connective layer between Platforms and partner teams across editorial and product functions.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that require coordination across multiple disciplines, from newsroom workflow improvements to digital product launches.
  • Serve as a hands-on collaborator, helping teams identify practical ways to improve platform capabilities and content experiences.
  • Develop and maintain reporting frameworks that provide clear, actionable updates to stakeholders.
  • Communicate progress, priorities, risks, and platform health to senior leadership, partners, and editorial teams, including in the form of Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs).
  • Lead internal communications for the Platforms org, including supporting all-hands, regular updates, roadmap reviews, and meeting cadences that maintain momentum and clarity.
