About The Position

StubHub is seeking a Staff Product Manager - Payments to own the checkout and payments experience. This role focuses on improving buyer pipeline completion and authorization rates globally by expanding payment methods, optimizing authorizations, and building adaptable systems for diverse markets. It's a senior, hands-on position for someone with deep expertise in payments, fintech, or fraud technology. The role involves managing and mentoring another product manager while remaining actively involved in product strategy and execution. Collaboration with engineering, data science, risk, and operations teams is key to solving complex approval-rate challenges, balancing global consistency with local needs, and making strategic build vs. buy decisions. This is an opportunity to shape the foundational payment systems for a global marketplace.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in product management, with significant experience in payments, fintech, fraud technology, or adjacent financial systems.
Strong technical and analytical fluency – comfortable working with payments data and complex system flows.
Experience integrating with payment methods, processors, and fraud tools, including vendor evaluation and system design.
Ability to operate independently in ambiguous problem spaces, setting direction while driving hands-on execution.
Systems thinker who understands how checkout experience, authorization logic, and risk controls interact across a global ecosystem.
Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with experience partnering closely with engineering, data science, risk, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

Serve as the end-to-end product owner for payments, accountable for buyer pipeline completion and authorization performance.
Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve conversion across markets with varying payment norms, issuer behaviors, and risk profiles.
Define success metrics and drive sustained improvements in checkout reliability and performance.
Lead integrations with new international payment methods and providers, ensuring scalable and reliable implementations.
Make strategic decisions on localization versus global standardization for payment flows, configurations, and experiences.
Design and evolve routing strategies, merchant descriptors, and issuer-facing optimizations to improve authorization outcomes.
Partner with engineering and data science to build and evolve adaptable fraud and authorization systems.
Orchestrate initiatives across internal models, payment routing, and third-party tools to improve end-to-end performance.
Understand the interplay of fraud controls, issuer behavior, and payment methods across different markets.
Work closely with engineering, data science, risk, and operations teams to deliver high-impact initiatives from concept to launch.
Partner with accounting, finance, and legal to onboard new payment vendors and renegotiate agreements with existing partners.
Drive build vs. buy decisions, evaluating vendors and internal capabilities.
Translate complex payments and fraud challenges into clear product strategy and execution plans.
