Staff Product Manager, Agent Observability

LiveKitSan Francisco, CA
$225,000 - $265,000

About The Position

LiveKit is seeking a Product Manager to lead its Agent Observability product. This role involves understanding, debugging, and ensuring the trustworthiness of voice agents in production. As the sole Product Manager for this critical new product area, you will establish its foundations, set the vision and roadmap for the entire observability suite (including traces, recordings, dashboards, evaluations, and quality metrics), and collaborate closely with the engineering team. The product must cater to two distinct user types: engineers debugging issues and non-technical operators monitoring quality, cost, and agent behavior. This presents challenges at both the user experience and technical levels. You will be instrumental in defining the emerging field of voice AI observability and shaping a product used by major companies deploying voice agents at scale.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in product management, at a senior or staff level, ideally having owned a developer-facing or data-heavy product.
  • Technical depth: Ability to reason about complex system internals and earn the trust of engineers. Understanding systems well enough to make good tradeoffs is crucial, though coding is not required.
  • Multi-persona product sense: Experience building products for both deeply technical and non-technical users, with design judgment to make dense, data-rich interfaces genuinely useful.
  • Cross-functional influence: Ability to influence autonomous engineering teams through clarity, trust, and good judgment, rather than process or hierarchy.
  • Communication as a superpower: Clear writing, effective presentation skills, and the ability to navigate conversations from board-level strategy to detailed technical discussions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity: Ability to figure out what matters, prioritize ruthlessly, and move quickly without perfect information in a fast-growing company with a small product team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building an observability, monitoring, or analytics product, or a tool for evaluating and improving AI/LLM quality.
  • Familiarity with evals, tracing, or quality measurement for AI/LLM or agent systems.
  • Familiarity with how teams debug and monitor software in production (logs, traces, metrics, dashboards).
  • Background at a developer tools or infrastructure company.
  • Familiarity with voice AI, real-time communication, or telephony.
  • Experience with usage-based pricing models.

Responsibilities

  • Own the observability roadmap, setting a clear vision and a sequenced plan for the suite, and deciding what gets built and when, in partnership with engineering.
  • Ship products people rely on by turning a complex, data-dense problem into daily-use customer experiences and continuously improving quality.
  • Make agent quality measurable by building the evaluations and metrics teams need to assess and improve agent performance, covering aspects like latency, cost, conversation quality, and behavior.
  • Design for two audiences simultaneously, ensuring the product serves both deeply technical users and non-technical operators effectively without compromise.
  • Engage deeply with customers and data to understand how teams operate and debug agents in production, using this insight to shape priorities.
  • Drive adoption and revenue to ensure observability revenue reflects the value delivered to customers.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity package
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Flexible vacation policy
