Staff Product Designer, Handshake AI

Urban Ridge Supplies•New York, NY
•$225,000 - $250,000

About The Position

As a Staff Product Designer at Handshake AI, you will partner with product, engineering, data, research, and operations to build and extend the tasking experience, the central platform used to shape frontier AI models. You will develop strategic product visions and work with partners to sequence them into pragmatic phases, collaborating closely with Quality, Coding, RLE, and Fellow Experience teams. You will work with operations leaders and stay close to operator workflows by running pilots, shadowing users, identifying pain points, and translating insights into prioritized investments. The role tackles complex, ambiguous, human-centered problems and translates them into clear, simple solutions. You will own design end to end, from concept through production, iterating through research, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs while maintaining a strong point of view on craft. You will also raise the bar for design culture and execution through systems thinking, product reasoning, pixel-level precision, facilitation, and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate design decisions, tradeoffs, and reasoning to partners and leadership.

  • Experience designing scalable systems, workflows, or platforms with many moving parts and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative approach that values diverse perspectives and incorporates them into the design process.
  • Design-led thinking that embeds design thinking into day-to-day work and helps others grow.
  • Impact-driven approach with the ability to prioritize ruthlessly and focus on high-value work.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to take ownership.
  • Motivation by Handshake’s mission; humility, kindness, curiosity, and a desire to keep learning and help others grow.
