Requirements

  • Experience leading cross-discipline teams, viewing design as a partner with PM and Engineering in shaping strategic and operational product and UX outcomes.
  • Ability to move between big-picture thinking and detail, creating clarity in ambiguity for the team and partners.
  • A teacher's heart, with the ability to mentor and train others.
  • A thought leader, capable of undertaking explorations into new technologies and territories while also delivering practical designs.
  • Passion for crafting and sharing product and design UX principles to help teams deliver cohesive user experiences.
  • Proficiency in integrating AI into the design process, including building tools and reusable prompts, and vetting AI output for accuracy, design system fit, and usability.
  • Focus on user goals, building and sharing empathy to understand people's needs while balancing business objectives and engineering considerations.
  • Comfort owning all stages of design within a given product area.
  • Strong storytelling skills to communicate design ideas to various stakeholders.
  • A digital portfolio showcasing depth across a variety of complex and challenging technical projects, including generative and evaluative research, discovery, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.
  • Portfolio must show work that shipped and was used in real products.
  • Degree in a related field or relevant work experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer.
  • Proficient in Figma or similar design tools.
  • At least a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Designer.

Responsibilities

  • Own the long-term design strategy for your product area, shaping its direction across multiple releases.
  • Partner with design leadership to define patterns and standards for other designers and raise the quality bar.
  • Lead through influence, aligning product, engineering, research, and content partners around a direction.
  • Design end-to-end journeys that span the Okta portfolio and multiple personas (IT and security admins, compliance owners, resource owners, approving managers, and end users).
  • Apply a systems-thinking lens, connecting user insights to business goals to create experiences that keep millions of users safe.
  • Facilitate co-creation workshops with Product Management and Engineering to frame opportunities and shape product direction.
  • Mentor senior designers by guiding their projects and supporting their growth and career development.
  • Present ideas and concepts to adjacent teams and senior leadership to drive alignment and influence product decisions.
  • Advocate for and encourage the thoughtful use of AI in research, brainstorming, iteration, prototyping, and collaboration.
