Okta is seeking a talented Staff Product Designer to shape its expansive product portfolio in identity and security. The role focuses on designing the user experience for Okta Identity Governance, a product that helps large companies manage access to resources and prove compliance to auditors. The designer will be responsible for making complex access management processes feel simple and intuitive for customers at scale. Requirements

Experience leading cross-discipline teams, with design as a partner to PM and Engineering in shaping product and UX outcomes.
Ability to move between big-picture thinking and detail, creating clarity in ambiguity for the team and partners.
Experience mentoring and training others.
Ability to undertake explorations into new technologies and territories while also delivering practical designs.
Passion for crafting and sharing product and design UX principles to help teams deliver cohesive user experiences.
Experience integrating AI into the design process, including building tools and reusable prompts, and vetting its output for accuracy, design system fit, and usability.
Focus on user goals, building empathy to understand people's needs while balancing business objectives and engineering considerations.
Comfort owning all stages of design within a given product area.
Strong storytelling skills to communicate design ideas to various stakeholders.
A digital portfolio showcasing depth across a variety of complex and challenging technical projects, including work across all aspects of the design process (generative and evaluative research, discovery, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, etc.).
Degree in a related field or relevant work experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer.
Proficiency in Figma or similar design tools.
At least a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

7+ years of experience as a Product Designer.

Responsibilities

Own the long-term design strategy for your product area, shaping its direction across multiple releases.
Partner with design leadership to define patterns and standards for other designers and raise the quality bar.
Lead through influence, aligning product, engineering, research, and content partners around a strategic direction.
Design end-to-end journeys that span the Okta portfolio and multiple personas (IT and security admins, compliance owners, resource owners, approving managers, and end users).
Apply a systems-thinking lens to connect user insights with business goals, creating experiences that ensure the safety of millions of users.
Facilitate co-creation workshops with Product Management and Engineering to frame opportunities and shape product development.
Mentor senior designers by guiding their projects and supporting their professional growth.
Present ideas and concepts to adjacent teams and senior leadership to drive alignment and influence product decisions.
Advocate for and encourage the thoughtful use of AI in the design process, including research, brainstorming, iteration, prototyping, and collaboration.
