Staff Product Designer

Fieldguide
$180,000 - $210,000Remote

About The Position

We’re hiring a Staff Product Designer to join the Fieldguide team. You’ll own complex, ambiguous problem spaces end-to-end, partner deeply with Product and Engineering, and help shape the design direction of a core Fieldguide product. We move incredibly fast at Fieldguide, and we’re looking for designers who can operate at that cadence. This team ships frequently, iterates in tight loops, and makes progress amid ambiguity. You should be comfortable balancing speed with craft, incorporating AI into your daily design practice, and designing AI-assisted workflows directly into the product. This is a high-impact role for someone excited to own unclear problems, drive momentum, and help modernize audit workflows that customers depend on every day. You’ll join a growing, highly collaborative product design team embedded within Fieldguide’s Audit product group. Designers at Fieldguide operate as strong product partners—working closely with Product Management and Engineering to define problems and deliver high-quality solutions. The Core team focuses on the core workflows that auditors and assurance professionals use every day, including planning, execution, review, and collaboration across engagements. The problems are complex, data-rich, and high-impact.

Requirements

  • You operate as a strategic IC — you don't just solve problems, you decide which problems matter
  • You think several steps ahead, anticipating how decisions in one area ripple across others
  • You're comfortable influencing senior PM and Engineering leaders, not just your immediate collaborators
  • Experience shaping how AI-assisted workflows get designed at a systemic level, not just within a single flow
  • You've coached or mentored other designers and can articulate why, not just what
  • You set a bar for craft and consistency that others look to as the standard
  • You can hold a long-term point of view while still shipping incrementally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for audit, accounting, compliance, or other regulated domains
  • Track record of shaping design strategy across multiple teams, not just a single product area
  • Experience building or scaling design systems, standards, or team-wide processes
  • Background in workflow-heavy, document-centric, or B2B SaaS products
  • Experience coaching or managing designers, formally or informally
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices at scale

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design for complex, ambiguous audit workflows, from problem definition through shipped solutions
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to shape strategy, influence roadmaps, and deliver high-quality, scalable implementations
  • Drive design execution with minimal direction, operating effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Translate customer needs, research insights, and business goals into clear user journeys, interaction models, and polished UI
  • Balance speed and iteration with usability, consistency, and long-term product quality
  • Advocate for users while accounting for technical, regulatory, and business constraints
  • Own a significant product area or customer journey, anticipating downstream impacts across workflows and personas
  • Set a high bar for craft and influence by contributing to the design system, mentoring peers, and serving as a trusted design voice.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation packages with meaningful ownership
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401k
  • Wellness benefits starting on your first day
  • Technology & Work from Home reimbursement
  • Flexible work schedules
