Staff Product Designer, Mail Growth
About The Position
Superhuman is seeking a Staff Product Designer for their Mail Growth team. This role is remote-flexible, with hybrid options available in San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle. The designer will lead growth efforts for Superhuman Mail, focusing on onboarding, in-product activation, and purchase experiences. The goal is to make AI-powered email and scheduling workflows simpler to understand and adopt, enhancing user efficiency and success while maintaining Superhuman's known speed, polish, and delight. This staff-level position requires a deep understanding of growth design strategy and a collaborative approach with product, marketing, research, engineering, and analytics teams to drive impactful experiments and product improvements. The role involves defining and shaping experiments, influencing product strategy, balancing business goals with user needs, leveraging research insights, staying ahead of industry trends, elevating design culture, rapid prototyping and iteration, and exploring AI tools and workflows. The designer will be part of a supportive team that values feedback and open idea sharing.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience spanning Product Design and Growth Design, with 3+ years focused on growth, onboarding, monetization/subscription, or activation experiences.
- Comfort designing for complex systems. You have a proven ability to design clear, scalable, and delightful user experiences that simplify complex workflows.
- Strengths in design craft and execution. You have demonstrated mastery of design fundamentals, encompassing prototyping, visual and interaction design, typography, layout, and visual hierarchy. You know how to sweat the details to build a premium experience for users.
- Experience and curiosity in building AI-powered products, including designing for trust, speed, and user control.
- Strong collaboration with a bias to action. You’re excited by the opportunity to create clarity when the direction is ambiguous.
- Exceptional storytelling and influence. You translate ambiguous problems into compelling vision that moves senior leadership and aligns cross-functional teams — and you can navigate a group to a decision when consensus is elusive.
Responsibilities
- Define and shape experiments that help users reach clear "aha" moments, from early sketches and hypotheses through interactive prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
- Influence product strategy: Partner deeply with PMs and engineers to shape product direction, tradeoffs, and sequencing in a fast-evolving landscape.
- Balance business goals and user needs in your designs. Collaborate on identifying key growth opportunities and contribute to shaping a cohesive, customer-centric roadmap with your team.
- Leverage research insights to guide users toward feature discovery, habit formation, and early value, increasing meaningful adoption across products.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, ask critical questions, and go beyond the functional to meet users where they are emotionally.
- Elevate the team’s design culture by pursuing remarkable quality in your design craft and producing consistent, high-quality work that drives measurable business impact.
- Prototype, test, and iterate rapidly: Use prototypes to explore, validate assumptions, and learn what truly helps users manage email and stay productive on the go.
