About The Position

Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our purchasing team as a Staff Procurement Specialist. The Staff Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in supporting supply chain operations, through managing the planning and procurement of products, materials, and services. This individual will be supporting planning, forecasting, finite scheduling, and schedule adherence to meet long term growth and profitability targets. This position will develop and execute procurement strategies that optimize costs while ensuring adequate supply levels to meet Alphazyme’s evolving business needs, as well as develop and maintain crucial configurations with Alphazyme’s ERP system. Key responsibilities include vendor management, systems management, purchase order processing, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain seamless operations. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of analyzing, organizing, and implementing procurement strategies, along with strong interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain/procurement, life sciences, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience in planning and procurement/purchasing in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, such as NetSuite and Microsoft Office products required
  • Experience in industry procedures, costs, and terms
  • Experience with compiling and following strict budgets
  • Experience scheduling both non-recurring and recurring production needs
  • Self-motivated and able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • CPIM/APICS certification a plus
  • Experience with 21 CFR 820, ICH Q7, ISO 9001, and/or ISO 13485 requirements a plus

Responsibilities

  • Procure products, materials, and services to support business operations.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and communicate vendor alternatives.
  • Track purchase history, manage orders, and maintain accurate records.
  • Verify order receipts, process purchase requisitions, and ensure documentation.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and optimize costs.
  • Maintain and optimize configuration of NetSuite ERP for increased efficiency and streamlined workflows.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align procurement with business needs.
  • Schedule and coordinate service procurement with impacted departments.
  • Monitor procurement expenses and report key insights to management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality, and safety standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for the department and organization.
  • Participate in collaborative culture of Production planning to build structure and processes across business units
  • Responsible for ensuring daily raw materials and finished goods needs are known and secured through collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Logistics/Warehouse
  • Provide guidance and trending information to buyers to optimize stock position of raw materials
  • Participate in the development of a high performing culture focused on critical KPI’s such as Revenue, On-Time Delivery, Schedule Adherence, and Quality/First-Time Pass
  • Review and plan requirements for acceptable inventory, find and evaluate raw material supply sources, coordinate procurement efforts, and determine the level of need for the procured items
  • Monitor and adjust daily, weekly, and monthly schedules based on production and sales performance
  • Analyze work order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements
  • Manage daily quality checks to the supply/demand processes
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned
