Staff Post Silicon Electrical Validation Engineer

Renesas Electronics•Duluth, GA
•Onsite

About The Position

Renesas is hiring an experienced technical lead to conduct post-silicon validation across multiple product iterations. The role includes hands-on silicon bring-up and validation, including high-speed analog and mixed-signal characterization, with a focus on DDR5 buffer silicon. The engineer will lead bench-level validation and characterization, drive debug efforts, develop test methodologies, and collaborate with design, system, and product engineering teams. The position supports characterization of critical electrical and timing parameters for high-speed memory devices. It uses established test and measurement techniques—including de-embedding, high-impedance probing, and noise compensation—to investigate signal-integrity challenges as memory data rates scale. The engineer will use exploratory test approaches to debug and optimize performance, synthesize experimental results, and define follow-up experiments to isolate complex issues. The role also includes preparing clear, structured reports for technical and non-technical audiences; documenting methodologies, procedures, and assumptions so results are reproducible and scalable; and communicating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. The engineer will collaborate with validation teams across geographic regions and develop and validate applications of LLM and AI techniques to analyze large validation datasets, create visualizations, and reduce reporting cycle time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience with high-speed analog and mixed-signal devices.
  • Strong understanding of signaling levels, termination architectures, and system signal-integrity tradeoffs.
  • Expertise with high-speed interface test equipment, including BERT, oscilloscopes, and compliance software.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python for test automation and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with advanced signal-integrity measurements and applications for design correlation.
  • Strong understanding of memory interface architecture, protocols, standards, and operation, preferably DDR5.
  • Hands-on experience with DDR5 buffer silicon bring-up and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bench-level post-silicon validation and characterization activities across product iterations.
  • Support characterization of critical electrical and timing parameters for high-speed memory devices.
  • Use de-embedding, high-impedance probing, noise compensation, and other test and measurement techniques to address signal-integrity challenges.
  • Collaborate with designers and cross-functional partners to debug and optimize performance using exploratory test approaches.
  • Synthesize experimental results and define subsequent validation and characterization experiments to isolate and understand complex issues.
  • Generate clear, consistent, well-structured reports for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and validate LLM/AI applications for analyzing large-scale validation datasets, generating visualizations, and reducing reporting cycle time.
  • Document test methodologies, procedures, and assumptions to make results reproducible, accurate, and scalable.
  • Communicate technical concepts to stakeholders at appropriate levels of detail.
  • Collaborate with validation engineers across geographic regions and technical backgrounds to foster alignment and knowledge sharing.

Benefits

  • Competitive benefits package; further information will be provided during the hiring process.
