About The Position

Apple is seeking a motivated Silicon Validation Engineer to perform pre- and post-silicon bring-up, debug, validation, and characterization of analog and mixed-signal power-management circuits for battery-operated portable devices. The role focuses on system validation and the coordination between pre-silicon design and post-silicon validation to support product quality, from first silicon through mass-production release. The engineer will work closely with IC design, firmware, and system teams. Responsibilities span defining custom board-level hardware for IC bring-up and testing, developing and implementing validation plans, and helping module and system teams integrate designs and debug system-level issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • First experience in system validation and ASIC design validation.
  • Experience with analog circuit measurement.
  • Knowledge of hardware design tools, schematic entry, and PCB design techniques.
  • Strong bring-up and debugging skills, with hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Experience with complex test equipment setups, such as oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, and spectrum or network analyzers.
  • Good coding skills in Python and C++, and knowledge of programming test equipment to automate laboratory measurements.
  • Experience with switching converters and linear regulators (LDOs).
  • Technical background in silicon validation, failure analysis, and debug.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and ability to collaborate.
  • Ability to work well on a diverse team, take ownership, and motivate oneself and others.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL and FPGA prototyping.
  • Understanding of embedded firmware/software development processes.
  • Understanding of finite state machines, microcontroller architectures, and mixed-signal design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre- and post-silicon bring-up, debug, validation, and characterization of analog and mixed-signal power-management circuits.
  • Define custom board-level hardware for IC bring-up and testing.
  • Define and implement validation plans.
  • Work with module and system teams on design integration and system-level issue debugging.
  • Collaborate with IC design, firmware, and system teams from first silicon through mass-production release.
