Full Time Staff Pharmacist
About The Position
Peterson Health is seeking a full-time Staff Pharmacist to join its independent, not-for-profit community hospital in Kerrville, Texas. Pharmacists are valued members of the healthcare team, with an opportunity to contribute to patient-centered care in a hospital setting. The Staff Pharmacist evaluates medication orders for appropriateness, including drug, dosage, frequency, route, allergies, and potential clinical interactions. The pharmacist recommends therapy changes to providers when appropriate and/or manages therapies according to medical staff-approved pharmacy management protocols. The role also checks medications dispensed by the pharmacy, ensures compliance with federal and state medication regulations, and promotes safe medication management as a member of the clinical team. The position works eight-hour rotating day shifts, with periodic weekends required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or PharmD.
- Licensed pharmacist with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Nice To Haves
- Residency training.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Sterile IV Compounding Certification.
- One year of experience working as a pharmacist; hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate providers’ medication orders for appropriate drug, dosage, frequency, and route of administration, and assess potential allergies and clinical interactions.
- Recommend therapy changes to providers as appropriate and/or manage therapies under medical staff-approved pharmacy management protocols.
- Check all medications dispensed by the pharmacy.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding medications.
- Participate as a member of the clinical team and practice and promote safe medication management.
