About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical and comprehensive patient care to customers by accurately processing and dispensing prescriptions, counseling patients about health care and prescription medication needs, administering immunizations, and delivering other Walmart-developed programs in compliance with pharmacy regulations. The role maintains confidential information, controlled medications, required documentation, and assigned records in accordance with company policies and local, state, and federal guidelines. The pharmacist supports patient safety and quality of care by setting clear expectations, ensuring standard operating procedures are followed, providing required counseling and documentation, identifying areas for improvement, reducing risk, and promoting the reporting of errors. The role also supports health care compliance by communicating and monitoring compliance initiatives and ensuring proper billing procedures, HIPAA adherence, and operational execution. The position models company policies, ethics, and customer-service standards; provides direction and guidance to associates; builds relationships with stakeholders; and supports business plans and improvement initiatives. It also contributes to a respectful, inclusive, collaborative workplace, develops and mentors team members, and delivers results while putting customers first.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD degree, or equivalent FPGE (NABP).
Pharmacy license by the job entry date.
Completion of an ACPE-accredited immunization training program, such as APhA, pharmacy school curriculum, or a state pharmacy association-sponsored program.

Responsibilities

Accurately process and dispense prescription orders and provide pharmaceutical care to customers.
Counsel customers about health care and prescription medication needs, including new therapies and items, and document counseling as required.
Administer immunizations and other Walmart-developed health programs in compliance with Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations.
Maintain confidential information, controlled medications, documentation, and assigned records in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Promote patient care, safety, and accuracy by communicating expectations, enforcing standard operating procedures, and holding others accountable for quality and patient safety goals.
Identify areas for improvement in team knowledge and patient safety, implement interventions to reduce risk, promote transparent error reporting, and create effective corrective action plans focused on root causes.
Communicate, train, and guide associates on health care compliance initiatives, and monitor their execution.
Ensure proper billing procedures, HIPAA compliance, and adherence to standard operating procedures; use audits to identify compliance issues and implement improvements.
Provide direction and guidance to associates on customer-service practices and help resolve customer needs, complaints, and issues within company guidelines.
Support business solutions and plans by partnering with stakeholders, identifying business needs, carrying out processes, monitoring results, and adapting to changing priorities.
Ensure compliance with company and legal policies and regulations, including safety, loss prevention, operational, and quality assurance practices.
Model company ethics and values, build trusting team relationships, communicate effectively, and help develop and mentor others.
