(USA) Staff Pharmacist
About The Position
The Staff Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical and patient care to customers by accurately processing and dispensing prescriptions, counseling patients, administering immunizations, and delivering other Walmart-developed programs in accordance with applicable Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations. The role maintains confidential information, controlled medications, and required documentation in line with company policies and local, state, and federal guidelines. The pharmacist promotes quality, safety, and accuracy in patient care; communicates expectations; supports adherence to standard operating procedures; and helps identify and address root causes of errors and risks. The position also advances healthcare compliance by training and guiding associates, implementing and monitoring compliance initiatives, ensuring appropriate billing and HIPAA practices, and using audits to identify and correct issues. The role builds relationships with customers, associates, and other stakeholders; guides associates in customer service and operational practices; and supports business plans, improvement opportunities, and organizational changes. The pharmacist models Walmart’s values and standards for integrity, inclusion, accountability, customer service, teamwork, learning, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD degree, or equivalent FPGE (NABP).
- Pharmacy license by job entry date.
- Completion of an ACPE-accredited immunization training program, such as APhA, pharmacy school curriculum, or a state pharmacy association-sponsored program.
Responsibilities
- Process and accurately dispense prescription orders, counsel customers about healthcare and prescription medication needs, and maintain confidential information, controlled medications, and required documentation.
- Administer immunizations and other Walmart-developed programs in compliance with Board of Pharmacy statutes and regulations.
- Provide counseling and information about health services for new therapies, new items, and when requested or required, with appropriate documentation.
- Promote a culture of patient care, safety, and accuracy; communicate quality expectations; and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and patient-safety goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve team knowledge, patient safety, and risk reduction; implement interventions; and promote transparent reporting of actual or perceived errors.
- Communicate, train, and guide associates on healthcare compliance initiatives and monitor their execution.
- Ensure appropriate execution of billing procedures, HIPAA requirements, and standard operating procedures; use audits to identify compliance issues and implement improvements.
- Provide direction and guidance to associates on customer service, operational practices, company policies, and strategic initiatives.
- Build relationships with stakeholders, identify business needs, implement necessary processes, monitor results, and adapt to competing demands and organizational changes.
- Maintain records and documentation as required by company policies and local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Model Walmart’s standards for ethics, integrity, inclusion, teamwork, accountability, customer service, learning, and continuous improvement.
