About The Position

Serves as the charge pharmacist for a specific pharmacy location, holding site-specific licensing (DEA, BOP, etc.) if applicable. This individual possesses in-depth knowledge of site-specific processes and operations, acting as the primary contact for site staff and pharmacy/nursing leadership. Responsibilities include ensuring the pharmacy space meets all regulatory requirements, leading relevant hospital and/or departmental committees, and assisting with workflow creation and implementation. This role encompasses all aspects of the Staff Pharmacist 2 position, with additional involvement in teaching, educational, supervisory, and quality improvement activities within the operational practice area. Key duties involve verifying medication orders, checking prepared medications, overseeing dispensing, and conducting clinical patient reviews for safety and accuracy. The pharmacist provides safe, efficient, high-quality, patient-centered, and evidence-based medication services, acting as a resource for drug information questions from various healthcare professionals, students, and patients/families. This includes screening for potential drug interactions and engaging in relevant committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Registered Pharmacist.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engages in and leads appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to site.
  • Assists with creation and implementation of workflows related to their site.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Staff Pharmacist 2 role.
  • Further involvement in teaching, educational, supervisory, and quality improvement activities within operational practice area.
  • Verifies new medication orders.
  • Checks prepared medications.
  • Oversees dispensing from the pharmacy.
  • Completes clinical patient review for safety and accuracy.
  • Provides safe, efficient, high quality, patient-centered, and evidence-based medication services.
  • Acts as a resource and provides answers to drug information questions.
  • Screens for drug-drug, drug-herb/dietary supplement, drug allergy, drug-food, drug-disease state, and drug-laboratory interactions.
  • Coordinates all aspects of patients' pharmaceutical needs.
  • Acts as representative of their site through involvement in teaching, educational, supervisory, and quality improvement activities.
  • Oversees technicians.
  • Oversees undergraduate and graduate student teaching.
  • Provides educational programs for hospital staff.
