About The Position

The Staff Nurse will provide direct patient care, including assessment, care planning, and implementation of nursing interventions. This role involves working as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team, ensuring patient safety, and participating in hospital operations. The nurse will administer medications, educate patients and families, and contribute to performance improvement activities. This position requires a BSN and two years of experience in psychiatric nursing.

Requirements

BSN
Current license to practice as RN in state of Texas
Two years experience in psychiatric nursing

Responsibilities

Sets appropriate goals for each patient, including physical, psychological, social, and continuing care needs.
Develops comprehensive nursing care plans based on nursing diagnosis and standards of care.
Effectively utilizes the nursing process in directing and providing patient care.
Modifies the plan of care based on ongoing patient assessment.
Ensures effective health teaching for patients and families.
Ensures comprehensive discharge planning relative to nursing care needs.
Observes, documents, and communicates patient responses and effectiveness of nursing intervention and medication.
Ensures safety by making patient and safety rounds according to policy.
Supports and encourages constructive working relationships with program and other disciplines/departments.
Responds to patients, staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
Demonstrates good judgment and behavior appropriate to the hospital.
Participates in performance improvement activities.
Relieves charge nurse in their absence as assigned.
Provides safe and timely administration of medication and prescribed treatments.
Effectively engages patients in full participation of treatment program.
Seeks opportunities to participate in hospital committees, performance improvement initiatives, and activities.
Participates in orientation and training of students and new staff.
