About The Position
The New York City Department of Correction seeks a Registered Nurse to support the Applicant Investigation Unit (AIU). The selected candidate will provide medical evaluations to candidates applying for Correction Officer positions, including EKG and blood pressure evaluations. The role also involves preparing summaries of candidates’ medical status, following up to ensure compliance with medical requests, and maintaining statistical reports for management. The Staff Nurse collaborates with and is accountable to a Physician for health and medical status assessments.
Requirements
- A valid New York State Registered Nurse License.
Responsibilities
- Administer electrocardiograms (EKGs) to potential Correction Officer candidates.
- Administer blood pressure evaluations.
- Prepare medical summaries of candidates’ medical status.
- Follow up with candidates to ensure compliance with medical requests.
- Maintain statistical reports for management.
- Collaborate with and be accountable to a Physician for health and medical status assessments.
