About The Position

The PRN- Staff Nurse (RN/LPN) will assist the providers and other clinical/ancillary staff members by performing routine duties per their licensure. All Juniper Health employees will adhere to the Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH) model and work to ensure that patients of all ages receive comprehensive, coordinated and patient-centered whole patient care. The employee will maintain confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Graduate, at minimum, from an accredited two-year nurse training program (RN or LPN) approved by the Kentucky Board of Nursing
  • Successful completion of the National Certification Examination.
  • Possession of a clean and current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
  • Must maintain current ACLS certification as well as continuing education credits as deemed necessary for licensure by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource person ascertaining individual family health and social needs.
  • Assists with the administration and maintenance of the intravenous fluids and medications.
  • Assists with nursing care to seriously ill patients, as directed by provider.
  • Assists with patient instruction regarding health promotion, lifestyle modification, disease prevention, self-care necessary for certain conditions, and proper medication usage.
  • Reviews and explains further about disease processes as pertinent to the patients health care.
  • Administers and documents medications as ordered by the health care provider.
  • Administers and documents treatments such as dressing changes, suture removal, enemas, ear irrigation, and the like, as ordered by the health care provider.
  • Assists provider during patient examinations, such as pelvic exams, pap smears, rectal exams, and obtaining samples for cultures.
  • Assesses and documents all patient vital signs, height and weight, patient complaints, medical histories, medications, and any other pertinent patient health information upon triage.
  • Assists laboratory personnel in collecting sterile and clear specimens for urinalysis and placing indwelling catheters.
  • Responsible for safely disposing of contaminated materials and dangerous instruments, as well as maintaining a clear, safe and attractive work environment.
  • Responsible for ordering and restocking both medications and medical supplies as assigned.
  • Prevents waste of equipment and supplies.
